Salary

$113,000 - 125,000 annually 

 

Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology manages and directs the organization's information technology (IT) operations, data security, and digital enhancements. This role provides day-to-day technological support as well as serves as a strategic partner to the leadership team to ensure efficient and innovative technical support to meet the needs of each team and the growing expansion of services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner and consult with internal staff and external stakeholders to find technology solutions to manage business activities and special projects; conduct workflow reviews with staff to identify opportunities for efficiencies and advancements through the use of technologies and database integrations.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team to understand and predict IT needs, recommending new products and technologies for the continuous improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement IT processes aligned with organizational needs to increase efficiency and ensure new software and hardware are successfully implemented and integrated.
  • Manage the security of systems and networks, facilitate IT security audits or investigations, and promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
  • Establish business continuity protocols to minimize service disruption with appropriate security controls and measures for technology infrastructure and data.
  • Install, maintain, and repair hardware and software components, ensuring all systems run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support.
  • Perform tests and evaluations on software and hardware.
  • Manage external vendor relationships for software and hardware service providers and ensure service agreements are managed.
  • Analyze IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics, as well as prepare financial budgets and present proposals for capital projects.
  • Monitor security certificates and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise IT staff and implement strategies to recruit and retain employees.
  • Hire and train IT staff.
  • Schedule, organize, and assign projects to IT staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience managing an IT department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • People management and coaching experience.
  • Non-profit or healthcare industry experience is an asset.
  • Must be able to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Flexibility is required to address the needs of a 24-hour operation.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Respirator Fit Test Requirement. This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.
